When we can expecting new build for VIX?
Newest is build 204, which i released 28.1.2012, so there is no newer updates for VIX?

it will be when its ready we dont give release dates but it will be worth the wait :trustme:

I've been running build 133 on the old kernel and using the ItalySatDTT plugin to get my usb DTT going.

The ItalySatDTT doesn't support the new kernel, so I've been trying to figure how to get my DTT going with the new builds. I've finally succeeded and I'm now running build 190. Below I have set out how I got my device working.

There are drivers for various usb DTT devices in the plugin downloads, but none for the af9035 devices! My device is an Avermedia Twinstar (a825) usb dual dtt which uses the af9035 chipset.

Well, I tried the following from Telnet
Code:
opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035

This resulted in various encouraging things being installed from the Vix feeds. I then rebooted but my device was not detected.

Then I tried installing the driver plugin for dib0700 (even though this didn't suit my device)... and I noted that (apart from kernel modules) it installed firmware files and also usbtunerhelper start script.

Then I located a firmware for the af9035 (BlackHole site) and ftp'd it into the same directory as the dib0700 firmware.

After another reboot, my device was detected and is working (so far so good).

Okay so I got lucky and everything is sweet. (The SNR and Signal Strength are still rubbish).

Is there any reason why the af9035 drivers cannot be made available via the plugin menu... as they do seem to work? The "opkg install ..." found most of the necessary files except for the firmware file and the installation of the usbtunerhelper. It appears as though it would be straightforward to add the af9035 devices?

Thanks for all the hardwork. I'm happy to be back using a fairly current Vix image rather than Blackhole.

I DO confirm that for me the A835 (Avermedia GreenHD) was showed in the tuner list only following the above steps:
1-telnet: opkg update
2-telnet: opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035 (which ends, with the following error FATAL: Module dvb_usb_af9035 not found)
3- ftp: upload in etc/firmware dvb-usb-af9035-01.fw, and chmod to 755
4- via the plugin panel installed dib0700 firmware
restarted enigma, and finally A835 is listed among the other internal tuners as tuner C.
In few minutes I'll try if it scans frequencies aswell (my wife is hanling the DUO at this time...)

Hmmm, I've had a weird issue twice happen this last week or so.

For some reason the box's signal just switched off - there was nothing on the TV screen yet the VU+ Duo was on.

I had to turn it on and off using the switch at the back to get it going again. It happened again last night which is really frustrating.

I have two Vu+ Duo, and both have started to act strange when I watch recorded programs. The picture is glitching/pixling, and I have to run ff/fr a few seconds to get it right again. This was not an issue in older Vix-versions. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Does any of you guys have the same problem?

After doing a few tests, I found out that going back to the drivers from december 2011, most likely will cure this illness. I've used these older drivers for a few weeks now, and so far I've had no issues with freezing and pixling/glitching. My wife told me that she once experienced that a recording just stopped, but started again when she pressed RWD. It might be a touch of the old problem, but it could just as easy be something else. I've used my boxes a lot after putting in the old drivers, and without any trouble. Recording one HD-channel, while timeshifting another, and all this without any trouble.

Give it a try, it's free... :)

This is very similar to my experience with 2.3.

My image is also very unstable. Get at least 1 crash daily and this results in my EPG being lost and so need to re download that as well. I don't get any black or green screens though, the system just becomes unresponsive sometimes with the vix spinner and just hangs on there for an age. I'll send some logs thorugh. My concern at this point is that I'm going away for 3 weeks shortly and without an EPG, autotimers won't work.

Would it make sense to have another image, "VIX Lite" or summat, which will be just a basic image without a lot of the bells and whistles just aimed at providing a stable platform?

HI,
I had the same problems with 2.3, random GUI crashes, black screen, recording stuttering and pixellating, etc. But after I disabled HDMI-CEC it seems to be more stable, at least for now. Still some stuttering but it's once an hour instead of ten mins, just as with the previuos version. If you have HDMI-CEC enabled try to switch it off, maybe that is one of the problems. Or maybe is just my TV ( Sony ) that caused my probs....

Even with CEC disabled, turning my lg tv off puts the set top into the menu. Otherwise I've had no problems.

Hi dibbz I have the same issue but have got my famiy to make sure that the lg tv is turned off after the vu+ receiver that seems to stop this problem I was getting menu and crashes if turning the the tv off first dont know why but only a small problem on such a great image.
oh and sorry when turning the set back on we allways turn the lg tv on first then the vu+

Anyone have any ideas when I do a full restart, my box sticks on 'starting' if I have a network cable plugged in the back? If it's not plugged in it goes from 'starting' to 'loading' fine, but it's really annoying having it hang like that as I have to restart. It also occurred when I had a USB stick in the back too (I no longer use a USB). Is it an issue with network mounts or something (I have none set up).

Try turning off router for 5mins for so, then reboot everything. Check ip's on your network and maybe even setup your Duo with a fixed IP.

The Duo is on a fixed IP (I find it easier that way). It happens with every full restart which is fairly annoying. I've just tried disabling a ton of stuff and same issue still present unfortunately.

1- have a look at the mountmanager: are all mounts as they should be?
2- have a look at the recordingssettings: when pressing 'recordingslocations' are there no non-existing locations?
3- have a look at the mounts (networkbrowser): also no non-existing lan-mounts?

These items just caused the same issue here.

I just went through mount manager (both network and standard). Nothing in there other than HDD mounted correctly. Recording settings all seem fine too  I'll give DHCP a shot, I have to go out shortly but will post the results later. Thanks all.

I would not fix the IP on the box but rather assign it a static IP in your router - done this with all of my boxes and it works fine. Also when you reflash the box - the same IP is already assigned to the box without having to go into the image settings;)

I have a LinkSys WAG120N which I bought myself; unfortunately assigning static IPs does not seem possible. I've assigned it to DHCP now anyway, after work this evening I will be able to test it out a bit further and hopefully get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks guys.

Well, if anything, my problems are worse now! I am getting 'starting' hangs on the display on the Duo box itself, and after reflashing I still have to unplug the network cable to get it to load even with DHCP enabled  would putting the picons on flash cause any issues? This worked fine the past week.
