Hi,

There are two OpenViX versions of each image for an Edision os mio 4k in the downloads section.
One version has "...Recovery Emmc" as part of the file name, the other version does not.

Which version do I use for loading into a vacant multiboot slot on an Edision OS Mio 4K receiver.

Thank You

Recovery is for usb flashing

so how do you flash with the "non Recovery" version?

What I want to do is to place an image on a USB stick then with the receiver powered up into Open Pli I want to navigate to the USB stick that has been placed in the receiver and select the ViX image on the stick to flash to a multiboot slot.
It is not a hard power down then back on with the USB stick. The receiver will be fully powered up before I insert the USB stick.

What version image?

So you are not usb flashing - just storing the image in usb? In openvix we use the image manager to flash the usb version on the fly (ie non recovery) - I don't know what facility there is in openpli to flash on the fly. The recovery image is for recovering the image by usb flashing - its rare to need it.

Both versions are multiboot - its just the flashing methods are different.

If you copy the OpenViX image to your hdd, OpenPli should automatically find it in their Flashimage utility.
Once you are in ViX you can use ImageManager to directly download any OpenViX, OpenPli or OpenATV image and flash online (no need for usb flashing)

BTW, why do you want OpenPLi as the root image?

first flash the eem recovery by usb. Then flash normal version and you will be asked in what slot.Choose one.The emm version is the basic for when box has problems so you can recover.

If you want also other images just couch flash them in another slot.

He already has images in some of the slots - he just needs to couch flash openvix into an empty slot. Flashing the recovery image would erase everything.

To Flash OpenVix MIO image using OpenPLi:
(1) The usb stick that will be used in the receiver will need a folder named downloaded_images
(2) Download openvix-5.4.008.release-osmio4k_usb.zip from: https://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php/downloads/edision-images-2-2/edision-os-mio-4k/
(3) Put openvix-5.4.008.release-osmio4k_usb.zip in the downloaded_images folder of the USB stick. (Do Not Unzip!!!)
(4) Insert the prepared USB stick in the receiver.
(5) Navigate the OpenPli Menus using the remote and pressing Menu--->Setup--->Flash image.
(6) A drop-down box should appear. Navigate to Downloaded images and press enter on the remote. Press the ok button again when openvix-5.4.008.release-osmio4k_usb.zip is highlighted.

At this point, you should see image slots numbered 1-4 twice.
Navigate to the slot you want OpenVix in and press the OK button on the remote to start the Flash. Select a slot Without Backup as the OpenVix image is different from OpenPLi, which likely makes some of the backup files different.

Watch the image load, and do not allow it to make an auto-restore when you boot into OpenVix the first time.
