[VU+ Duo] New VIX Image Vu+ Duo Version 2.4 15/05/2012 - DISCUSSION ONLY -

When you upgraded to 2.4 did you restore a backup from a previous version if so which version was it.
Probably dont want to hear this but I would now do a full vanilla USB reflash, do not restore any backups and once run through the initial setup transfer your channels etc back across then try installing Samba and uShare only

Hi Rob i have installed samba 6 or 7 times now and each time it has gone after a restart but if i dont restrt i cant start or autostart samba anyway

hi maxwell4321 when i did a upgrade to 2.4 i didnt use any back ups from previouse versions silly question what is a vanilla usb reflash?

thanks Maxwell4321 not what i wanted to hear but thats life i will try this in morning now as im out of time today work calls. should i do an online update to build 135 before or after trying samba setup?
i will let you know how i get on after a reflash
thanks Baldrick75.

You could try both before and after and report back both results as that would be helpful to us as a team if there was any issues - Which plugins do you currently have in there (in the non working one at this exact point in time) would also be useful information.
It would now be better if you start anew thread so things dont get lost in the mists of time

I will work on this in the morning start a new thread list all plugins on image now then try reflash install samba then upgrade to build 135 hopefully this will work..

Odd, I'm currently watching a HD-channel recording from earlier tonight, recorded on a DUO & watching over the network on a TM-Twin & not a single glitch.
When on the DUO, I often rewind & play live TV on HD channels as well as watching pre-recorded HD shows and never have a single glitch.

Try watching the recording, while recording another show. Maybe that will trig the unwanted bug to appear..? Maybe there's something special withe the format here in Norway? Might NRK, TVN and TV2 use another standard in any kind..? There's no doubt about the glitch-problem, it is for real. Me and my two Vu-friends, all have this problem. I can also read about this in a Couple of scandinavian forums.

If I watch a show or just timeshifting a program, the problem can suddenly appear. I can temporarily fix it by hitting the rewind or forward button, followed by OK to start normal play again. Problem solved. If I then rewind to the place where the problem showed up, it will play just fine. Meaning; it is probably not the recording itself, nor the hdd, but the Vu that is struggeling when it is trying to show me the movie, sort of speak.. This problem was brought to us about in the end of 2011.

rather than updating to build 135 via a earlier image just download the actual 2.4-135 image and flash it directly from the OpenViX server.
then set it up as described.

The problem has now been resolved and samba is up and running so i can connect to my vu hdd from my pc as was sugested by maxwell4321 the list of oplugins before refleash was
cross epg downloader
ftp browser
file browser
media scanner
open webif
picture player
sa-key updater vu+
Ts pannel
xmlt importer

enigma2 plugin -cams-mgcamd_1.38-vix
enigma2 plugin drivers-dvb-usb-dib 0700
enigma2 plugin extensions-dvd player

I reflashed to the original 2.4 and installed samba and this worked.
i then reflashed again and updated to build 135 and installed samba this also worked so put everything back on as it was before and samba is still working looks like its been just one of those things to test me. lol
thank you pheonix for your advice with regards the openvix server didnt know about this before
and thank you maxwell4321 for all your help today
Kind Regards Baldrick75 :)

thanks for coming back with the results, many dont and just disappear of into the sunset until the next problem they have.
Cant see anything I am aware of in your plugin list that would have caused your problem directly.
Just a suggestion but dont put too much faith in the abilities of TS Panel, it is often out of date with its downloads and some are not compatable.

TS panel was recomended by a freind in another image fro installing mgcamd 1.38 on vix but i have a copy of the enigma2 plugin -cams-mgcamd_1.38-vix ipk file on my pc i now only use it for installing sat angels key updater would like to find the ipk file for this also then i wont need the TS panel and can remove it from my vu
again thank you very much for your help.:)

That tends to be the problem just because it says ViX in the TS-panel does not mean it will work and more often than not downloading cams for ViX from the TS-panel will give you nothing but a headache. The only place to get real working cams for ViX images is

Code:
http://www.4shared.com/dir/wnyHV50A/VIX_CAMS.html
