[VU+ Duo] New VIX Image Vu+ Duo Version 2.4 15/05/2012 - DISCUSSION ONLY -

Are these plugins you installed your self ? as the ones included by default are there for a specific purpose and need to be there such as the OpenWebIF and CrossEPG ETC ETC ETC, in fact most of those plugins are integrated directly into the image it self and removing them is either not possible or if you do manage to it will cause instabilities.

What plugins if any are you installing your self including skins etc ?.

I didn't add any plugins to the new install; but I seem to remember I'd had to install webif on the last one. I'd also installed a few other things I never used.
That's why I assumed when I saw webif and a couple of other plugins on the plugin list in 2.4, that it must have been held over from the last instal; but from what you said now, I assume that was wrong.

So there were no extra plugins, and I've removed 3 that were packaged with 2.4.

After doing that, and restarting, the TV [sony] will now switch on through the hdmi cable [before that the VU remote could switch the TV off, but not back on].

Maybe unrelated.

So to get back to the original problem. I think we can now assume the freeze up had nothing to do with any plugins.
The problem occurred when I tried to rewind a program I was watching live, that was also recording.

The program continued recording to disk while the picture was frozen. I rebooted by cutting the power after 15 minutes, just before the recording was scheduled to stop.

Does any one know how to view Vu+ on atv2 jail broken latest update is there an add on on xbmc that will pick this up. also do i have to down load a plug in on vu ???
Just though will through it out there to the experts

PLEASE HELP!!! I own a Vu+ Duo and I have recently upgraded to ViX image 2.4 build 155 from Vix 2.3. The image is fantastic. But the problem I am having now is that my TV in my bedroom now cannot pick up any files from my box via DLNA. I used miniDLNA with ViX 2.3 and it worked fine but after installing miniDLNA in 2.4 and selecting the folders that I want to share with my TV now it will not pick up any files. The tv does show the ViX logo so the connection between the TV and box, I assume, is fine.

I have tried uShare and that is the same but to be honest, uShare never worked with all my Samsung TVs

Please advise how this situation can be fixed as I do not want to revert back to Vix 2.3. Is there another possiblilty for an online update to fix this?

Thanks in advanced

did you install samba from the network menu and you need to respond to the pm that Stanman sent you

Hi mate,

I have responded to stanman pm message. I have tried samba but the TV does not pick the network up at all.

which samsung tv is it, i use a sammy and sometimes it just disconnects itself from the network but it still thinks it is connected, try redoing the network setup and the Allshare on the tv then reboot your receiver

I have a ue32es5500 and ue46c9000. Could I ask what your Sammy model is? Also are you using samba or minidlna?

PS59D6900 and I am using uShare but also have miniDLNA active, in miniDLNA and uShare you can change port numbers and options by going into menu>setup>system>network>miniDLNA/uShare and then press ok
You can also tell it which folders to share when in this menu by pressing the green button.

I have managed to select the files I want to share but how would I know what port number to go for? I wouldnt know where to begin in regards to this. sorry for the million questions amte.

I have made no changes to the ports so leave them as default - I am sure you will but please read all of this before doing anything - on the tv go into menu>network>Allshare settings>media and set it to ON, you should also see a list of all allowed ip addresses
Highlight them one at a time and delete all of them in this way then go to menu>network and run through the setup process again - this will force the tv to assign the VU a new ip address for sharing.
once this is done you can check the ip address list by going into menu>network>Allshare settings>media and somewhere in there should be the ip address of your vu listed as
Device xx 192.168.x.x allowed
(x is dependant on your network)
Cross check this ip address is the VU.
If at this point you do not see your VU ip exit all menu's and put the tv into standby and reboot the vu, once it has fully booted the switch the tv back on (give it a minute to make sure it is back on the network) and check again on the TV that the vu ip address is showing up. You may also have to reboot your router (if you reboot the router check that it hasnt changed the VU ip address because of DCHP)
Assuming all is now good with the ip address on the tv go into smart hub and select Allshare and you should see your VU folders and the sharename ViX:1 will be at the top left of the screen.

For test purposes I would only use one of the 2 TV's and leave the other unplugged just to make sure the Allshare cannot get confused as it can try to link to the other TV.

Let me know how you get on

Got a weird annoyance. My box goes to standby every 5/10 minutes I have to press the standby button to turn it on again. It's not the sleep timer checked that could it be anything else?

What version ?

Menu> Information> About.

Well the latest 151 think. Ye you are right the cec address might be messed.

IT WORKED!!! However, only when the ip address is the one that was connected with the tv in the first instance. but for any reason if the ip address changed on the box then the tv does pick up the box but not the files within them? also the weird thing is when everything worked the tv did not state the ip address of the box from the tv in 'Media' but everything worked?

any way the tv can accept all ip address changes from the box or would it need to stay the same?

thanks again

cooltv is not fully compatible with the ViX image, and to be honest why use cooltv when the inbuilt EPG in ViX is in my opinion far superior to the cooltv offering. also worth of note is the fact that coolman has decided to make the cooltv plugin payware. meaning that there are now two versions and the premium version requires payment to unlock.
