[VU+ Solo2] Help with wierd error messages

How are you connected? Wired direct to router? Homeplugs? Wifi? USB flash or couch flash? Virgin or BT Hub? Any network switch?
I use a Solo2 and it was a usb flash with no restore of settings (I generally always manually change settings). It's connected via Ethernet via HomePlugs.

Neither the Ethernet or homeplugs have changed.

I'll try again on 21 tomorrow and see how it goes and if there is a pattern to it (ie I can re-create it again).

Late to the party but I have also had this but only a couple of times usually been in the morning. Just out of interest im with virgin media for bb, what about everyone else who had the issue? I am convinced it is something to do with network..

wtf.webpOk after running fine for 5-6 hours kaboom back to faults r us.. same errors as attached. now though I cant ftp the box?. was going to get logs and now cant ftp since the error. see attached. Also my mate in Glasgow called to say he downloaded a plugin and now he suffering same issues. how else can I get these logs out?

I have the file crash log etc but how to I post?

ive send via box to the vix team via online method though..

Success! Crashed after about 40 minutes from clean install with no plugins (was on Xbox so not exactly sure on time). On reboot got Onlineversioncheck error.

Just trying to retrieve logs now

kill_bill it gotta be something its getting a response or down from ? ive changed versions and still does. so that rules out say one image. it has to be something that the software did look at before but now gets / the big nae nae, causing it to crash.

Also to Add once the crash happens the plugin/ downloadable plugins no longer works. it says no more plugins available.

Also you then cant ftp the box.

I really want to stick with vix images as love them. patience for a fix

Dam, after the box crashes I can't get into it even via FTP. Going to have to restore again and install samba so hopefully I can grab it via Windows.

Can you disconnect Internet and try watching TV for a while and see what happens if anything?

Changed the log location to hdd and set up to email. Here goes again!

...Just out of interest im with virgin media for bb, what about everyone else who had the issue? I am convinced it is something to do with network..
I don't use VM for my bb. My bb or router/network hasn't changed.

Other brand? other drivers? other chipsets?
I agree peterj, but then wouldn't that mean all other LX2 would be similarly affected? This problem has now evolved from when I first posted regarding the issue a couple of weeks ago, and the only other post with the same problem that I recall was someone with a VU+duo and I don't know if he got it fixed either. I would like to reiterate what I said in post #39 and all the things currently being advised I have done /tried and it didn't achieve the desired result . The only thing mentioned that I didn't try was leaving the network cable out for 24hrs. but I would love to know how that resolves the problem , but having said that W.o.S. claim that they now have my LX2 stable connected to their network which may mean that the intervening period when it wasn't connected to a network was what's required.

I have a suspicion that its to do with the Blue Skin. ive successfully ran a few Vu solo2 with basic skin and not one error and even
trying to force the error. so to make sure I loaded the blue skin and within 30 mins crashed.

it kind of makes sense as when I go right back to a april version to rule out images, it was still happening. some food for though.

reflash with latest and keep the standard default skin and see how you go..:p

It's not the skin. It's network related. Am I remembering right you are using a VM Superhub? Can you try the following:

1) If your receiver is using DHCP, set it to a static IP.

2) If you still get the crash after point 1, are you able to set the VM Hub to modem only mode, then use another router? If not can you put a network switch inline?

I'm using a BT Infinity hub Boss.

Do you have a spare router lying around that you can connect to the BT Modem, instead of their Hub?

First try a static IP in the receiver though. Menu > Setup > System > Network > Apapter settings. Assign a static IP. First though check in the BT Hub what range of IP address's are assigned to DHCP. Make sure you static IP is outside the DHCP range the BT Hub uses.

Right, crashed after an hour last night but couldn't get logs. Reflashed and been on since 9pm last night and no errors. Shall I try adding plugins, cams etc and see?

Why couldn't you get the logs?

USB stick formatted FAT32. Set up debug log to save on the USB stick. If the box crashes, put the USB stick in your PC and get the log.

It's alright saying that now but I left it as default which is internal flash, when it crashed I couldn't access via FTP so had to reflash. Will add softcam initially and see how it goes
