[VU+ Solo4K] TBS 5925 USB Tuner

James, no idea what the problem is. I haven't touched Blindscan except to add code already tested by el bandito. What step size are you using? By the sound of it your scan is off frequency, i.e. step size is too big. We need to work out what is a practical step size for this.

Still getting feed errors trying to download the TBS driver. What do I need to do?

TBS5925 Has issues that will need to be worked out, or understood and lived with. For example, the receiver may freeze when no transponder signal is present, so a complete satellite scan on a satellite that has several dead transponders in the satellites.xml file will take some extra time.

Another example would be the frequency step in MHz when blind scanning. There are several North American satellite orbit locations that will have transponders with 2 MHz spacing. The TS5925 will find these 2 MHz transponders, if you use a low step rate. But it will also find a ton of duplicate transponders when a low MHz step is used for a complete satellite blind scan. Seems that the larger the symbol rate, the more times the TBS device will duplicate the transponder, sometimes finding the same large Symbol rate tp 10-15MHz away. This issue adds a ton of wasted time to the blind scan, plus it wrecks the channel list with many duplicates for the satellite being blind scanned.

In summary, there is a lot of trial and error when using the TBS5925. Normally what I do is assign the device a task, such as watching channels the internal tuners cannot receive, and leave it alone. The TBS5925 is a very good hunter, and I sometimes use it to hunt for transponders in a small area of the spectrum using extremely low steps in MHz. It would be a heck of a device if some of these issues could be fixed, especially the freezing when no transponder signal is present.

Not sure why. Feeds are there and all your links work for me.
Code:
http://images.satellites-xml.org/feeds/openvix/multistream/4.2/vuduo2/

You need to maintain a relationship between the symbol rates and the step size. So probably better to do multiple runs. i.e. step for DTH 20MHz, SR 20-35 MHz... Feeds SR 6-12 MHz, step 8 MHz. Or similar.

The whole reason I wrote the filters was to be selective of what you are finding rather than need to zap through hundreds of channels to find one or two feeds.

Having resoldered the power connector in my TBS5925, and having found a time when the feed was stable enough to let me install the TBS driver on my Duo2, I'm thrilled to find that it's now working with VIX 4.2.006.006 (Multistream).

A couple of details which caught me out:
1. In my box, the TBS device installs itself as Tuner E, and during a manual scan with Tuner E it now finds all the multistream channels on 5 degrees West. But it was then necessary to de-configure 5 deg W from tuners A to D , because otherwise the receiver would try to use them for all 5 deg W channels, including (unsuccessfully, of course) multi-stream ones, because they all take precedence over Tuner E.

2. The modulation mode for some of the Italian channels on 5 deg W is given by lyngsat.com as ACM, though this isn't included among the options in the manual setup menu (though it does appear in the corresponding menu in DVBDream for Windows). But the 8PSK option seemed to work.

So -- much thanks to all those who put in the hard work to make this happen.

Just installed the VIX 4.2.006.006 (Multistream) in my Vu+Duo2. TBS5925 recognised and seems to work...but very unstable... Some times finds signal to all 5W multi stream channels and some times can not scan channels...signal seems ok but when scan any freq of italian finds all the same channels...( finds channels from 12626 even i scan 12585!!! ) If i reboot vu seems to works ok for a while and again have the same behaviour!!

in tuner configuration, in advance mode ,makr active tbs tuner only for 5W and give priority higher to auto…in this way every time you ll go to 5W tuner E will be the active tuner!!!

Finally my problem was from lamedb… i clear all 5W channels scan again with tbs and all are ok now!!!!

Is it blindscan broken for internal tuner? Seems to work with TBS but no with internal Dual DVBS tuner...
Thanks

Thanks -- that's what I've done. The drawback is that only one tuner is then available for 5W (and any other satellites with multistream services), which means you can't receive more than one channel at a time. But perhaps I won't often want to do so.

One oddity I've noticed is that the France Televisions channels on 11.591V and the multistream versions on 11.509H Stream 1 overwrite each other in the main transponder list. So you can't keep both of them, unless something clever can be done in Dreamboxedit (and I tried).

1. No you have both tuner at these satellites! Just give priority to tbs and don't remove these satellites from internal vu tuner

2. I had similar problem but fixed when I removed the satellite and add it again, and I make totally scan with tbs tuner

Since when is this? I've got that tuner in Solo4K and it scanned fine on tuner I.

The message is not from Enigma2 or the plugin, so must be from the binary.

Do you get the same message when using the latest release image?

With image = 4.2.006.006 (Multistream) if i disconnect the tbs, reboot the receiver blindscan works perfect. When connect Tbs the blindscan does not work. Same with latest release image!!

Hi Huevos,

Sorry for the slow reply I have been away for a few days, the reason I am using 45 east is because there are only a few transponders about 12 plus 3 feeds on the European footprint, I have kept my scans as simple as possible only scanning either H or V polarisation at a time and using 4MHz frequency steps, I also changed the scan symbol rate start and end point to 8 and 34 so giving me a symbol rate range of about 1000 and 35000.

I have also ran A and B tests using a Technomate 6900 as well as on the Solo2 internal tuners to make sure my setup is not causing any problems or interference, I more or less get the same amount of found transponders from the Technomate the Solo2 internal tuners and the TBS 5925, but the TBS doesn't save the channels while the Solo2 does.

At least it is not crashing anymore, it could be that the TBS doesn't like the fact I have satellites and channels still stored in my Solo2 although I did disconnect and de-configure my internal tuners when scanning with the TBS.

Kind regards,
James.

@Tenten that is either a hardware conflict or something in the closed source code. Either way not something we can sort out and will probably be the same in all images.

Please check AutoBouquetMaker works with the 5925 connected.

@James save the xml file from both tuners. Xml files are in /tmp after scan completes. And debug log from both scans. Not sure why you have this trouble as scans work for el bandito.
