[VU+ Solo] Can't make backup of my SOLO

Blue button-vix-swap manager green button to activate

Swap files will only save on partitions formatted in ext format (2, 3 & 4 iirc). So, if your usb is a fat or ntfs, it will not allow you to save there... Re-initialise your usb within your stb (you will LOSE everything on it, so backup anything you want to keep from it), and you should be fine...

Update

I updated the solo to build 370 (Online) and powered off and on again to make sure nothing was runningin the background.
I did a settings backup and then tried a new image backup to attached USB 4gb flash drive formatted in EXT4 and it went perfectly....
Result...

If you can try to get it to crash again doing image updates when updated with build 373 or after. Andy has made some further changes, since its a hard one to track down. Have had multiple backups where it's worked perfectly fine, and on same build, no changes whatsoever, it works perfectly fine.

Done a few backups with build 373, and it seems to have worked perfectly for us. So, if you could try, and let us know whether it works fine for you. And keep an eye on it as you do updates in the future :)

And if you find any problems make sure to send us crash- and debug logs.

Cheers

Hi,i initialised the usb on my solo, its now mounted as ext4,but i cannot seem to be able to create a swap file,in swap manager. If i try by pressing ok,i get a message saying i need to create a swap file before i can activate it?

Also is it not poss to reinsert my usb to pc so i can re-add my saved files off the pc,as i get message saying it needs to be formatted before i can use it on pc.Im using windows vista.
Thanks again Olly

1- In Swap manager did you use 'create' before trying to activate?
2- Windows doesn't read Ext by default; you'll have to find drivers for that.

To be able to read / write EXT3 / EXT4 linux partitions in windows you need the appropriate drivers or just use the explorer program i have included in this reply ( Ext2explore is read only ).

I could not find a button for that, but when i tried to setup previously i just used ok button but got "not able to create swap file on fat32",this time when i press it nothing seems to happen...??

will check out the programs you mentioned for my pc

In swap manager press blue to create, it will than ask you for location and size if swap file.
