[SF8008] Openvix & DAB+ feeds?

I installed Openvix on Octagon SF8008, here is a backup according to my image. I added some dependencies that were missing from the original image and made the necessary settings. It runs dab+, multistalkerpro, t2mi, hdf radio, subsupport, etc.

Uninstalling the gstreamer1.0-libav plugin does not mean uninstalling gstreamer. It runs and plays dab+ stations correctly. Deleting or replacing libavcodec.so.60... will cause other problems, it should be left as the original image is built.

I figured just swapping libavcodec for an older one would cause issues and it does with exteplayer3 for sure. @Clemente can probably take advantage of your backup of the SF008. Any hint for me for what dependencies are missing in the standard OpenVix image? It's so I might be able to install them on my HiSilicon-based AX61HD or on my mutant HD51.

Thank you so much for your backup.
But, could you please give us instructions how you proceeded to reach the best situation?
I would like to learn on myself. So the first thing to do is surely repositioning the original codec in /usr/lib folder, and then? Thanks.

After installing the openvix image and the channel list, I installed the dab tools, then I installed serviceapp (from plugins-systemplugins), then I installed gstplayer (from setup-system-software update-package manager). If gstplayer does not appear in the list, use the green button (opkg update) and search again. I deleted(from usr/lib) the libavcodec.so.60.31.102 file and replaced it with this one. Give the loaded file attribute 755. Exit, restart...success!

Very useful information!!
Another question please: did you leave the bouquets as they are? So 497:0:0......? Or did you use 501 or 502 instead?
Really thank you for your advice, I will surely try soon.

@Joe_90, have you the chance to make any test in your receivers?
Probably I will be able to test in about 2 or 3 days, not earlier.

Yes, 4097....

Thanks for the downloads. I suspect the dab tools may be the same as already installed. I'm a little confused that you suggest to delete the libavcodec.so.60 and replace with a new one. You said in post #80 "Deleting or replacing libavcodec.so.60... will cause other problems". Are there no other files to change other than the new libavcodec? in /usr/lib there is a softlink to the libavcodec.so.60.31.102 which is named libavcodec.so.60. There are also other pointers to this file in /var/lib/opkg and other device files marked with so.60 present in /usr/lib which I presume are there to support the codec. Do we just leave these in place and delete the existing libavcodec and replace with the new?

@Joe_90
Yes, deleting the file libavcodec.so.60.31.102 and adding the file libavcodec.so.61.3.100 created playback problems for MultistalkerPro, vod and tv show category. Basically, its replacement was null, because the added file was not read, being a different version. Instead, dab+ function was played correctly in the absence of the libavcodec.so.60.31.102 file. I restarted from the beginning and studied a little more and noticed that the structure of the files in openatv 7.4.2 is similar, almost identical, to that in openvix, including the file libavcodec.so.60.31.102 being the same version, but different in size. I deleted and replaced in openvix the libavcodec.so.60.31.102 file (attribute 755) and the gstreamer-1.0 folder (from usr/lib) with those from openatv 7.4.2., and after restarting both dab+ and multistalker pro work. No serviceapp was needed. Everything is great now!
I try to make a short summary:
1. Openvix image with E2 settings
2. Dab tools
3. Gstplayer and Exteplayer3 (from setup-system-software update-package manager)
4. Libavcodec.so.60.31.102 (in usr/lib-attribute 755)
5. Gstreamer-1.0 folder (in usr/lib)

Updated Openvix backup Octagon SF8008

I intervened here to help and discover new things. I'm just passionate about it, I apologize if I didn't manage to explain it clearly enough.

Thanks @Adrian70 - I think it's the Gstplayer that is key to the successful functioning of the DAB streaming all right. I'll test the replacement Gstreamer folder tomorrow and report back. It's the player that is key to success, I think. The initial changes I made today using gstplayer were mostly successful. Only one service - "Classic FM" caused playback problems. Music playing occasionally skipped but when the voice announcer (programme presenter) came on after a music track, his audio was breaking up, similar to the effect of dropping frames in video.

@Adrian70, in my Openvix I made this:
1. Deleted both libavcodec.so.60.31.102 and libavcodec.so.60
2. Copied into the /usr/lib folder both libavcodec.so.58.54.100 and libavcodec.so.58 taken from a SatdreamGR release (do not remember which version, it was version 8 I believe).
Doing so, the DAB+ reception was strongly improved, almost perfect on all stations.
I know it is an older codec, but SatdreamGR was the first image in which DAB+ reception was considered.
Did you noted any differences in normal TV audio replacing the codec and player from Openatv?
I have Openatv 7.5 installed in the slot 2 of my SF8008, do you believe it is the same as in 7.4 or I must take the files exactly from the 7.4?
Eventually could you please share an archive including all files needed? Thanks.

In OpenATV 7.5 (also valid in 7.4) I solved it very simply. Must uninstall gstreamer1.0-libav plugin from Setup-Software Management-Advanced Options-Package Manager-Multimedia Packages. Restart.
Here you have the archive for Openvix.

So, in the Openvix I delete the original codec, open this archive and install all these files. Right?

Yes, delete gstreamer-1.0 folder and libavcodec.so.60.31.102. Replace with those from the archive and set attribute 755 to libavcodesc.so.60.31.102.

Just tested. Probably the audio quality is better compared to the older codec, but there is a major problem.
After about 40 seconds the sound completely disappeares. The speakers become totally muted. No error messages on the TV screen.
If I change channel the sound is back, but after more 40 seconds it mutes again.
After muted, attempting to restart the box, this message appears:
"A client is streaming from this box! Really shutdown now?"
Pressing Yes the box restarts, but the problem is there again.
@Adrian70 and @Joe_90, have you the same problem? What can I check? Thanks.

@Clemente, @Adrian70 - I tested yesterday evening on my Ax 61HD, which is a HiSilicon box running OpenVix. I re-nstalled eti-tools, dabstreamer etc. on a clean install. I did install ServiceApp (which also seems to install exteplayer3, but does not seem to install Gstplayer). I installed gstplayer manually through opkg. I deleted the existing libavcodec.so.60 and replaced it with the newer 61 version and ran a chmod 755. I also replaced the /usr/gstreamer-1.0 folder with the one provided from OpenATV. I'm afraid it didn't make any real difference on my box. The real test for me is to see if it plays back "Classic FM" on 28.2. This particular channel immediately shows if there is an issue with the AAC960 decoding on my box as the voice announcer audio is "choppy" and words are dropped - like dropped frames on video. Other DAB+ channels are not so obviously choppy, but if you listen carefully the music playback is slightly slow or lower in pitch caused by the AAC being decoded incorrectly. Ordinary DAB stations (which carry MP2 audio) are prefect. I suspect the reason my particular box is not handling AAC960 correctly is because there are other hisilicon-specific codec libraries being used. I don't know the low-level specifics of media handling in sufficient depth to be sure what is going on.

In case the gstreamer1.0-libav plugin was causing an issue (as per @Adrian70's tweaks on OpenATV), I actually ran opkg remove on it on Vix. I got a number of warnings about machine dependencies but I ignored them and used force parameter to remove it. After a reboot, I couldn't get any video on TV! So, not a good idea on Vix. After another clean install I'm back where I started initially with a standard Vix install and dabstreamer etc. So, working DAB stations and no-so-good DAB+ stations.

My current plan of action is to try OpenATV 7.4 in another slot on my AX61HD and try again after removing the libav plugin.

@Joe_90, if I understand correctly, the move by @adrian70 had no success in your receiver, but you installed serviceapp in addition.
I followed exactly what he suggested after a clean Openvix installation, without installing any other application.
As I said I have this very annoying problem now, but I tested only the german radios at 7 East.
Hoping to test Classic FM at 28.2 East late today in my Octagon SF8008.
I will let you know.

Yes - I know I didn't quite follow the process exactly, but I absolutely need serviceapp on my box in order to use exteplayer3 on some of my IPTV url's. I just use public streams on IPTV (no paid "pirate" streams). I found that some streams, notably the local Irish government/senate streams will play for about 20 seconds when coded as 4097 and using the in-built player. However, if I code them as 5002 and use exteplayer3, then they are perfect and will stream continuously. I have tried recording these streams, but it doesn't work with external players for me no matter how I set the options in the recording menu, but that's not a major issue for me. But, I definitely need to be able to use exteplayer3 on some streams.

@Joe_90, testing at 28.2 East now. On all english radios I have not the "40-seconds muting" issue found at 7 East.
But I have EXACTLY the same problem you mentioned. Music sounds a little bit "slowly", and commentator voice is "dropped" and sometimes "skipped".
This occurs the same using the older codec I shared last week and the one shared by @Adrian70 that I installed following his procedure.
Using the codec originally installed by Openvix I have no sound on Classic FM and on all AAC960 coded stations. Very bad luck.
Again, hoping that the Openvix developers will be able to address this very annoying issue.
