Positive report is rare but here is one: Update from Apollo 026 to 028 online works fine.
Excellent work, thank you.

My Vu+ Duo2 is also so far so good. No issues like I have seen with 25 and 26. Looks good here in Florida, guys, as well!

As it should do, because there is nothing that would cause issues by updating from any build 025 or above. The issue was that you can not online update from build 024, once you reflash to 025 or above you can again resume normal updates, until such a time as we issue further advice (for people to ignore again).

28 good on my Vu+ Uno (full reflash)

I was on 24 and tried a full reflash of 26 which ended up on both occasions I tried it with the test card image as the back ground and no channels listed.

28 installed fine and I popped a Catseye settings on it and configured my softcam and everything looks good.

What ever happened to 27? lol

It's not unusual to miss a build for what ever reason, after all we never released a full 808 individual images in the ViX 3.0 series. as for catseyes they have now been removed from our feeds due to him hiding retailer advertisement in them.

Not to undermine your efforts to inform users, but not every VIX user checks the site regularly.
I am sure there are many who are not even registered here, but just use the online update functionality when the symbol in the front panel shows there are updates available.

For example myself: I bought my Ultimo in August last year from *******.fi, with an usb stick with the Vix image packed with a good selection of plugins by *******, flashed it and happily began using the box. It took many days before I even figured out that the blinking dot in parenthesis on the front panel meant there are online updates available. Then in the winter I just wondered why there hadn't been new updates for about three months, until I received email from ******* that they have the new Thor image available for download and it must be flashed instead of using online update.
And by the time I wondered about the missing updates again and began regularly following this site, you folks had already released Helios. (And then you released Apollo before I had got myself to try flashing the image downloaded from here, so I skipped Helios and updated from Thor to Apollo 1..)
And I'm sure I am not the only one who used and online-updated ViX months before starting to regularly follow your announcements.

Yes I fully understand that not all users come to the forum for update information, which is why we post to both twitter and Facebook with such important information too. We also can not be held accountable to unscrupulous retailers who sell our image supposedly ready to go. We do our best to keep users updated with changes they need to know about, but at some point users also have to do some research for them selves.

Not everybody uses them either (believe or not). And even Facebook users aren't necessarily aware of your Facebook presence. (I noticed it from some release notes that I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't seen the announcement here..)
Some people just use the online update, and only begin searching for help and find this forum when they encounter some problem after online-updating to a version that should be flashed instead of updating online..

Is there a link to the Facebook page as I am having trouble finding it.

you can find the link in my signature bar in this post.

since vix has online connectivity is it an idea to have some sort of news system in the image to alert users?

That would be great, I tend to check on forum every so often either because something ain't working, checking for features or just out or boredom but a message on the box to say full reflash needed to upgrade would be good.

Maybe having it show when try update or searching feeds? If that's possible, guessing might be bit of work and appreciate may not be possible.
