MetrixHD_MOD (Now includes a full 1080 HD version too)

I just updated to the latest openvix hd Apollo 090 on my solo 2. After a year or so. I see that matrix hd is not supported on this image. I have been using this for long time. So, now I wonder what exactly is the difference between openvix and openvix hd?

MetrixHD is 720p skin whereas OpenVixHD uses a resolution of 1080. Unfortunately every part of the skin would need recoding from the ground up, and now as a family man with two women demanding the TV the opportunity to do this is very limited.

At some point I would like to make a skin for OpenVIXHD perhaps a 'Lite' version of Metrix. In the meantime if someone wishes to takeover developing for 1080 I am happy to help them do so.

Thanks Schweeler

When you say OpenVixHD is 1080p I take it is just the skin and text on the skin which is 1080p? I really don't see any difference really apart from the text being too small to read. So, if I go back to latest OpenVix (not hd) will metrixHD skin be available on plugins?

So, as a continuation of the previous question apart from the skin being 1080p is there any difference between HD and non HD latest image builds? Also, is it possible to restore settings from an HD build to a non HD build?

Thanks

That's correct, it is just the skin and if you go back to the latest OpenVix non-HD Metrix HD is still in the plugin feeds.

My understanding is that it is only skin related changes. I know Rossi advised not to restore settings when going from non-HD build to HD, but not sure if it would work the other way. Personally if you're backed up I would try it and if it doesn't work you have the option to go back to the HD build. I expect it will be fine and heard a rumour the the HD & non-HD builds are to be combined shortly anyway :)

schweeler, there are a couple moviereference files left over in your skin.

moviereference.pyo in converters
moviereference.py in renderer.

do you mind removing these aswell please? :)

Will be good to have metrix back again. When will it be on feeds as the one on now still gives the error for moviereference.pyo

Thanks Scweeler for detailed reply. So, can we expect to find your skin in the feeds soon?

Stuart35 & Jugulator. Yes the fixes have been uploaded, so should be back in the feeds very soon. The feeds update with the builds, so it will be fixed in the next Vix update hopefully very soon.

That's great news Schweeler. Will sit tight then!

Look forward to having my favourite skin back!

I have started work on a 1080 version no ETA for arrival before anyone asks but hopefully before the New Year!

It will not include the plugin and store as these do not currently support 1080. The skin will be largely unchanged, it should just all look a little sharper. Old and new version pics below for comparison:

mate i luve your work thank you i was wondering could you make a skin simillar to youview you or rossi please

i have vu zero and luve to have youview skin on openatv image as its not supported with vix image just yet

Thanks Kiwiz. Once this rather big update is finished I'll have look - although I expect it won't be too long before VIX supports vu zero. Nice box by the way hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it.

1080 update has been released!

You can now switch between the default 720 version and a new 1080 version using the MyMetrix plugin. The option is in the General settings page:

1_0_19_52D0_814_2_11A0000_0_0_0-6.webp

Any skinparts that you have previously downloaded WILL NOT be compatible until their authors update them/release a new version. To make things easier all default skin parts are now included automatically and so the skinpart selection screen looks like this:

1_0_19_52D0_814_2_11A0000_0_0_0-7.webp

Bugs & To do list:

HD icon doesn't light up
History Zap screen needs to be skinned

I recommend using ZZpicons (400x240) for best results. Some screenshots:

Depends on the receiver, those not compatible wont have the 1080 skins section in their feeds.
