[VU+ Duo2] Boot time

Hi,
the boot method of Linux and Windows also did not change much in the last 10 Years but because of much stronger hardware boot times dropped to less than a 3rd. PC got SSD and our Boxes still have slow NAND flash. The box is ready after around 15 seconds because then you can connect through telnet the rest is loading and initializing.

for the money simply use power timer. My Duo2 automatically is in deep standby from 1:00am to 6:25am and then from 7:30am to 4:45pm so its ready to use when I am back home and the few minutes to early really only costs pennies.

ciao

there are always workarounds... i know... i'm using the tv now for watching. 10-15 seconds feels much better than 45.
p.s. egarding flash: the 4k has emmc flash and still needs 40 seconds to boot.

However, in deep stanby, would the EPG still inport and would my cross epg still work. As i set this at around 4 in the morning.

No you would need to set a power timer up so your receiver wakes up to be able to run them.

A number of factors affect boot time. Even wifi drivers that are pre-installed affect boot time, softcams starting / loading etc....

i read that dmm with it's latest uhd box achieves 10-15s boot time using systemd.
sounds like systemd is replacing the old style boot with init scripts.
so, in case you guys are bored... there is some new stuff that you could implement. ;-)
