Openvix on DM900

still waiting for the vu+ duo 4k se to be available again... i have a dm900 sitting on the shelf. could i put openvix on without risk? are there any deficiencies from a stability or functionality point of view? can i go back to dreamos without problems? just dont want to wreck the box?

No issues with OpenViX on DM9x0. Work like all others.
No problem to return DreamOS afterwards...Ofcource you have to do a clean flash.
Please be aware for the first flash procedure.
You have to extract rootfs.tar from the zip that you going to download from openvix site and use that for first flash. Then the flash is strait forward.

….. and once you have installed OpenViX you can then initialise multiboot feature which means you can install a new OE-A image without overwriting current one.

so, i have downloaded the vix image, unpacked it and get a dir dm900 that contains 3 files: imageversion, kernel.bin, and rootfs.tar.bz2.
i assume that i flash the rootfs.tar.bz2 thru the rescue loaders's webif... correct? what is the kernel-bin used for?

Yes flash rootfs.tar.bz2 via the rescue loader.
After successful flash you can use normal vix flash procedure where it uses all the files.
Not sure what is kernel.bin for. Maybe @twol can answer...

i installed the TVSpielfilm plugin which doesnt load due to missing Screens.Timers. the plugin was probaby written for atv which has Screens.Timers. how would you guys fix that? remove the plugin from the plugin list, add Screens.Timers, request plugin update?
